XPENG announced on 8 September 2026 that its automated production line for humanoid robots is operational. It calls the line the world’s first for advanced, general-purpose humanoid robots, and says more than 80 percent of its core processes are automated.

XPENG showed the same day how the robot went through the whole automated production and then walked off the line under its own power.
The line belongs to XPENG Robotics, which is also behind the humanoid robot IRON. IRON had been exhibited on XPENG’s stand at IFA in Berlin in the days before the opening.
Two weeks earlier the robotics business had raised money. On 24 August XPENG said it had raised more than 900 million dollars in a funding round that put its value above 6.3 billion dollars. The company calls it the largest single round of private capital in the Chinese industry for physical AI. The plan is mass production of IRON in late 2026, first for XPENG’s own stores and campuses, with customer deliveries in 2027. The XPENG company page explains how robots, cars and flying vehicles fit together in the group.
On 22 September XPENG brought together its first robotics suppliers. According to He Xiaopeng, they supply actuators and precision structural parts among other things, and he wrote the next day that mass production remains on track.
