XPENG received ISO/PAS 8800 certification for automotive AI safety

On 25 May 2026, XPENG said UL Solutions had certified its AI-safety processes to ISO/PAS 8800:2024. The specification applies to safety-related systems in series-production road vehicles that use artificial intelligence.

The certification applies to XPENG’s processes, not a particular vehicle model. XPENG says the assessment followed the work from design and data governance through model training, testing and operation in series-production vehicles. In May 2025, the company had also received process certifications to ISO 26262 for functional safety and ISO 21448, known as SOTIF.

According to XPENG, UL Solutions concluded after an audit that the processes met the requirements. The certification does not establish how a particular model or software version performs in traffic.
