On 20 March 2026 XPENG began rolling out XOS 5.8.7 as an over-the-air update to European vehicles.
The update builds among other things on ongoing feedback and driving experience shared by European owners with XPENG’s development centre in Munich, where engineers tune the software for local road and charging conditions.
Driver assistance and infotainment
Adaptive cruise control and active lane assist are tuned so the car adapts to traffic more naturally. Unnecessary braking is reduced, and the response to the car ahead is smoother and more predictable. Micro-corrections on straight roads are fewer, which makes a difference above all on long motorway drives.
Navigation search results are sharper and more complete. Third-party apps are more stable, including YouTube and Disney+, and the connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is more robust. The system as a whole has gained stability to reduce lag and restarts.
Charging and compatibility
Communication with external charging networks is optimised, including CCS protocol handling and voltage management. That is particularly relevant where XPENG’s 800-volt architecture meets charging networks built for 400-volt systems. The result is a more stable connection and fewer interruptions, including on Tesla Superchargers of versions 3 and 4, where compatibility and charger handshakes have been strengthened.
Additional improvements
The update also refines the timing of the visual and acoustic warnings when the car leaves its lane, parking-assist logic around traffic cones and available bays, and in-cabin audio for microphone-free karaoke.
