XPENG’s European scorecard sits in a release from Mexico City

XPENG opened in Mexico on 25 March 2026 with the G6 and G9. The G6 starts at 819,900 pesos for the Long Range, 889,900 for the Performance AWD and 919,900 for the Black Edition; the G9 runs from 1,099,900 pesos for the Long Range up to 1,259,900 for the Performance AWD. The first 100 customers got a 20,000 peso discount on any G6.

Three dealer groups cover Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, and the first showrooms opened on 6 April. There is a 1,000-square-metre national parts warehouse with more than 2,000 SKUs, and delivery times are given as one to three days to key regions and three to five days nationwide.

The European scorecard

Two sentences in the middle of the text are about Europe, and both repay close reading.

The first: the G6 is now in more than 40 countries and regions and is the top-selling mid-size EV among Chinese new-energy brands in markets such as Norway, Germany and Spain. The qualifier is “among Chinese new-energy brands”. That is a different claim from best-selling in its class, and the headline above the sentence calls the car a worldwide bestseller.

The second: the G9 is the only Chinese vehicle listed among Europe’s mid-to-large-size EV bestsellers and is first in its segment across nine countries, including Italy and Germany. Which list, which period and which ranking body, the release does not say, and only two of the nine countries are named.

Both are XPENG’s own claims with no source attached.

The figure that can be used

XPENG puts itself at 60 countries and regions worldwide, naming the UK, France, Germany, Australia and Thailand. For comparison, the company’s own European list ran to 15 markets in April 2025. That is a growth rate a reader can hold onto.

Alex Tang, head of international development, called Mexico a strategic market for XPENG in Latin America and globally, and said the company is leading the transition to the physical AI era.

Both cars are on the 800-volt silicon carbide platform with 5C charging and carry XPILOT ASSIST. There is not one kilowatt figure, no range, no test cycle and no charging time anywhere in the release. It is a market release, not a spec sheet.

The registration figures and the markets page are the two places the claims can be tested against something. The 100,000th car outside China followed four months later.
