XPENG handed over its 5,000th Norwegian car on 26 May 2025 at the agency partner Bilia in Hamar. The buyer was a 36-year-old moving home from Belgium to Lillehammer, and the car a G9 AWD Performance. It was his first electric car, chosen after looking at four or five others, and two friends had bought the same one.
The ladder
XPENG gives its Norwegian sales year by year: 86 cars in 2020, 474 in 2021, 777 in 2023 and 1,962 in 2024. There is no 2022 figure in any of the releases, and it should not be guessed. Growth in 2025 was running at 160 per cent, and the brand sat 14th on the OFV registration table with a stated goal of reaching the top ten. The G9 was the best-selling car in its segment. The growth percentages in the release are ratios, not increases; the car counts are the numbers to use.
The year it started
Norway was the first export market outside China, in 2020, and the 86 cars from that year are the evidence. XPENG’s global English releases have in several places written 2021 for the same event, with no figure behind it.
XPENG went into 2024 selling in four countries outside China and ended the year in more than 30, with a target of around 60 by the end of 2025. First-quarter 2025 deliveries were 94,008 cars, and the plan was to double 2024’s sales during 2025.
Claes Persson, managing director of XPENG Norway, called car number 5,000 a milestone on the journey. The 10,000th car in Norway followed a year later, in May 2026, and Denmark reached the same figure in August 2026; by July 2026 XPENG was the biggest Chinese car brand in Norway.
