In November 2025 XPENG marked its one-millionth car coming off the line at the Guangzhou plant. It was a silver-grey X9, handed over to its new owner. The number plate in the photograph reads 1000000.
The interesting figure is in the next paragraph: the second half-million was built in 14 months. The company was founded in 2014, so the first half-million took about ten years.
The release is German and five paragraphs long, and it is the only place in the archive where the milestone appears. Two of those five paragraphs are about the German range: XPENG has been in Germany since the summer of 2024 with the G6 and G9, both on 800 volts with the 5C LFP pack, 10 to 80 per cent in 12 minutes and up to 451 kW for the G6 and 525 kW for the G9, with the P7+ joining in 2026.
No date for the millionth car appears anywhere except the release date itself.
The third plant
The release names three production sites in China: Guangzhou, Zhaoqing and Wuhan. XPENG’s standard English boilerplate says every time that the cars are primarily manufactured in Zhaoqing and Guangzhou. The word primarily keeps the boilerplate technically correct, but this German release is the only place the third site is named.
A car Europe was still waiting for
The car that marked the million is the X9. It is the model most European markets were still waiting on when the release came out.
The million counts cars produced. The February 2025 release counted more than 620,000 delivered. Two different measures, and no growth rate can be worked across them.
