One German sentence is the only place Europe’s first-half 2025 sales can be worked out

On 18 August 2025 XPENG marked its first year in Germany. The release is in German, and it carries a figure that exists nowhere else.

Germany had a good 850 new registrations in the first half of 2025 on Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt figures, and XPENG writes that this amounts to a good ten per cent of the brand’s European sales. A further 266 cars followed in July alone.

Work backwards and those two numbers put European first-half sales at roughly 7,700 to 8,500 cars. It is the only place XPENG has ever given anyone the means to calculate that.

There is a caveat. The German sentence mixes registrations, which are the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt’s count, with sales, which are XPENG’s own. They are not the same thing, and the same problem shows inside Germany: 850 in the first half plus 266 in July is about 1,116 cars through July, while XPENG six months later puts all of 2025 in Germany at 2,991 cars. Either the second half was very heavy, or the two figures are not counting the same thing.

For scale, XPENG puts all of 2025 in Europe at 22,787 cars, growth of 126 per cent.

The rest of the ledger

Globally XPENG had just passed 800,000 cars sold in total, with more than 30,000 a month for the previous nine months and a July record of 36,717. From January to July, 233,906 cars were delivered worldwide.

The German network stood at 35 sales locations with a target of 60 by the end of 2025 and around 120 by the end of 2027. The ambition is five-figure annual German registrations from 2027, and a DACH organisation with Austria and Switzerland was being built.

The release also notes that XPENG’s 10,000th European car was handed over to a German customer in December 2024, at the partner Auto Grill in Munich.

A charging figure that has changed its window

Here it is 20 to 80 per cent in 15 minutes on the two SUVs, and five minutes for 100 km. The German G6 release of September 2024 says 10 to 80 per cent in under 20 minutes at 215 kW for the Standard Range and 280 kW for the Long Range. Neither is wrong, but they do not measure the same thing, and neither gives a temperature.

The release also trails the updated G6 and G9 for the fourth quarter of 2025 with up to 525 kW on the G9, and the IAA Mobility premiere in September where the P7+ was shown in Germany for the first time, on sale from 2026.

Markus Schrick, head of XPENG’s Central Europe sales region, said Germany is the birthplace of the car and one of the most demanding markets in the world, and that the company is of course still at the beginning. And: we have come to stay.

What German buyers have since chosen is the story of what it became.
