On 4 September 2025, datelined Casablanca, XPENG announced strategic cooperation agreements with the leading distributor groups in Morocco and Tunisia. Together with Egypt that gives a continuous network along the whole North African Mediterranean coast.
Egypt came first, in June 2024, with RAYA Auto as partner and the G9 and P7 as the opening models. XPENG writes that the brand once led the official monthly EV registration rankings there, without naming a month or a figure.
The Moroccan partner SMEIA has represented international luxury marques for 44 years, holds more than 30 per cent of the local luxury segment and runs a network covering more than 97 per cent of the population, with a team dedicated to XPENG. The Tunisian partner XP CARS Tunisia is described as a dealer group with a national sales and service network and experience in introducing car brands from scratch.
The reasoning is worth reading if you are European. Wang Ke, general manager for XPENG in the Middle East and Africa, calls Morocco one of Africa’s largest car producers with a mature industrial chain, and Tunisia a strategic hub connecting the African and European markets because it sits next to Europe.
It is a distributor-agreement announcement: it names no model, price, launch date or volume for Morocco or Tunisia. A Red Carpet Program is named as the mechanism for strengthening the partners’ service capability, but the programme is not explained.
South Africa and Kenya are named as possible next steps in Africa.
