On 10 March 2022 XPENG opened reservations for the P5 in Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden at once. It was the brand’s third model and the first put on sale in four European countries simultaneously. Six weeks later, on 21 April, the specifications and expected prices followed: 390,000 Danish kroner, 380,000 Norwegian kroner, 550,000 Swedish kronor and 48,000 euro in the Netherlands.
The car was a front-wheel-drive saloon with a 66 kWh battery, up to 465 km WLTP and a CCS2 socket. Drag was given as 0.223 and it had a heat pump. Driver assistance was XPILOT 2.5 with five radars, twelve ultrasonic sensors and thirteen cameras. The boot took 450 litres plus 70 under the floor.
It never reached Danish plates
The Danish motor register knows four XPENG models: the G6, G9, P7 and P7+. The first Danish XPENG was a P7 in July 2023, eighteen months after the P5 could be reserved. There is no release in XPENG’s own newsrooms saying the plan was dropped. The P5 appears in a European context for the last time in May 2022, when the Oslo store opened with the G3i and the P5, and after that it leaves the material.
The 390,000 kroner is worth having anyway. It is the only place XPENG ever put a Danish price on a P5, and so the oldest fixed point for measuring how the brand has priced into Denmark since. For comparison, the G9 and P7 opened for order here in February 2023, as the warranty story sets out.
