The Big Highlight: XOS 5.8.0 is a massive feature patch bringing two major highly-requested capabilities: the built-in Dashcam (Driving Recorder) for continuous video recording, and Pet Mode to keep animals safe with A/C running.

The update hit the assistance systems unevenly. Some cars carried on unaffected; others got lane centring that weaved in wide lanes, or systems that dropped out when they should not have. AI Bodyguard (Dashcam)

  • Continuous Recording: You can now plug in a USB drive to record your surroundings (Front, or Front + 360) continuously while driving.
  • Emergency Auto-Save: If the car detects a collision or high-risk event, the footage is permanently locked and saved to the “Emergency” folder natively in the UI.
  • Phone Export: You can beam saved Dashcam videos directly to your smartphone over the car’s local Wi-Fi hotspot without consuming data.

Pet Mode & Cabin Features

  • Pet Mode: Safely lock your vehicle while leaving the A/C running for your dog. The windows are locked, the air circulates externally, and you get mobile app alerts if anything goes wrong.
  • Mic-Free Karaoke: Sing along without needing external microphones. The system smartly balances the audio for an immersive experience.
  • Copilot Steering: During LCC, the system now features temporary cooperative steering. You can make light steering inputs at speeds up to 85 km/h before the system resumes full lane-centering control.

Mobile App (Phone-Vehicle Connection)

  • 【Enhancement】Run-time settings: allows users to configure the run-time for A/C, Max Heating, Max Cooling, and Refresh. The maximum set duration is 60 minutes.

A/C

  • 【Enhancement】Temperature settings: the lowest temperature to which users can set the A/C is changed from 18°C to 16°C. Temperature is now adjustable within the range of 16°C to 32°C, satisfying the need to cool the cabin on extremely hot days.

Preferred Bluetooth Devices

  • 【New】After signing in, you can set Bluetooth phones as [Preferred device] on the car infotainment. Those phones are then connected to the car as a priority every time you unlock it and get onboard.

Smooth Playing

  • 【Enhancement】Supports smooth playing after power-on: if music is playing before power-off, the audio content resumes where it left off once the car is powered back on. In scenarios like car power-on and infotainment reset, tap [Music] to play the previous content, with sources from online music apps such as Spotify, TuneIn, and Amazon Music, to Bluetooth music and radio channels.

  • 【Fixed】No more missing FM or DAB radio covers or titles. The first time users open the Radio app after the OTA, they should enable the Enhanced Radio Experience feature.

Streaming Rearview Mirror Display Change (G9 and G6 MY25)

  • 【Enhancement】When the trunk is opened, the Streaming Rearview Mirror automatically turns off the video feed and changes to the standard reflective surface.

Charging Connector Emergency Unplugging

  • 【Enhancement】The button for the Charging Connector Emergency Unplugging feature is now easier to find, located in [Vehicle Settings - Charging - Charging - Charging Connector Emergency Unplugging]. This makes it more intuitive to unplug the charging connector in emergencies where it gets stuck.

XPENG Voice Assistant

  • 【Enhancement】Voice control is applicable to more operations. This includes adjusting A/C air volume, enabling Pet Mode, enabling and disabling Light Saber Mode (if available), changing the ambient light color, and turning Bluetooth on and off for the passenger seat and back row seats (if available).
  • To ensure Wake Word Enhancement works well, keep the car doors, windows, and the trunk closed while repeating the wake word. At the same time, applications such as multimedia and Bluetooth calls need to be disabled. Also, keep the surroundings quiet.

Wiper Settings

  • 【Enhancement】The rear windshield wiper can now move less frequently, at the same pace as the front one. Users can customize it as needed.

Car Infotainment Language Updates

  • 【New】The UI of the car infotainment now supports Brazilian Portuguese. Users can set it in [About - Language, location and time - Language].

  • 【New】Launches a smarter charging map globally: users can search nearby as well as routes with charging stations along the way. The power and availability info of each charger within an EV station is now visible.
