The XPENG X9 won the luxury class in German Car of the Year 2027. Award co-founder Jens Meiners said the seven-seat MPV beat entries from 12 other brands. XPENG’s release says this is the first time an MPV has won the class.
The jury comprised 47 motoring journalists, 25 from Germany and 22 from other countries. This year’s field included 109 current and forthcoming models from more than 25 brands. Jury members completed about 750 test drives.
The overall title has not been decided
The X9 is one of five category winners. German Car of the Year 2027 will be chosen later from those five, so this result is not an overall win for the X9. The XPENG X9 page has the European versions and specifications.
