XPENG priced the G9 for China on 21 September 2022. There were six configurations in three series by range, priced from RMB 309,900 to 469,900. Two days later XPENG issued a new table.
The new table had eight versions. G, E and X were gone, replaced by Plus, Pro and Max. The price range was unchanged, and the 650 versions kept dual-chamber air suspension as standard. XPENG’s own account was that the changes reflected a focus on customer experience and strong demand for particular specifications.
In the new table two versions cost the same, RMB 349,900: the 570 Max with XNGP, and the 702 Pro with 132 km more stated range but no XNGP. That was a direct choice between range and driver assistance at the same price.
The charging numbers
The launch headline was 200 km of range in five minutes and 10 to 80 percent in a quarter of an hour. The 200 km was a CLTC figure. The charging figures applied to the 4C battery on XPENG’s own S4 fast chargers rated at up to 480 kW. After the new table every version had 3C as standard, and only the 650 versions could add 4C. For 3C XPENG gave 20 minutes from 10 to 80 percent.
XPENG converted some of its own figures to WLTP, but not all of them. In the same release, 570 and 650 km CLTC became between 460 and 570 km on WLTP. The 702 km was left unconverted.
The prices and configurations apply to the G9 in China in 2022. In its 2024 description of SEPA 2.0, XPENG called the platform standard in all its newest models, beginning with the G9.
