Norway had XPENG first. The first cars arrived in late 2020, as the first export market outside China, and 86 were delivered that year. Car number 10,000 was handed over in May 2026 at the agent Ålgårds Auto, a G9 AWD Performance to a family from Haugesund. That took about five and a half years.
Denmark started later and moved faster. The first XPENG on Danish plates was a P7 in July 2023, and the 10,000 mark fell in August 2026. That is three years and one month, counted per vehicle identification number in the Danish motor register, as the story on the 10,000 sets out.
What the two countries had to choose from
Part of the difference is the range on offer. Norway started with the G3 and did not get the P7 until October 2021. Denmark opened with both the G9 and the P7 from February 2023, and the G6 followed in July 2024. Two in three Danish XPENGs are now a G6.
Norway has picked up pace since. There were 3,000 cars in September 2024, 5,000 in May 2025 and 10,000 in May 2026, a doubling in a year. XPENG sat seventh among new-car registrations in Norway over the first part of 2026, and the target for the year is more than 7,000 cars in that country alone.
Norway is also where XPENG gets measured by other people most often. The G9 won People’s Favourite in the Norwegian Car of the Year vote, and several models have done well in NAF and Motor’s El Prix.
