The G6 achieved five stars in Euro NCAP’s safety test, announced on 11 September 2024. It was XPENG’s third five-star result for an international model, after the P7 in October 2023 and the G9 in December that year.
The body’s torsional stiffness reaches up to 41,600 Nm per degree. According to XPENG, integrated casting front and rear brings together more than 300 conventional components into two cast structures, which the company puts at an 83 percent improvement in stiffness. The battery case features three anti-collision layers with eight compartments and withstands, by XPENG’s own measurements, a pressure of up to 500 kN, about 50 tonnes.
In Euro NCAP’s official assessment the G6 scored 88 percent for adult occupant protection, 85 percent for children, 81 percent for vulnerable road users and 75 percent for safety assist.
The tested model and its specifications
The tested car was a left-hand-drive G6 Long Range with the 87.5 kWh battery. The car uses the SEPA 2.0 platform with an 800 V architecture, seven airbags and XPILOT driver assistance systems.
