The X9 was shown at Auto Guangzhou on 17 November 2023 for the Chinese market, with presales from RMB 388,000 and first deliveries in January 2024. It is the flagship of SEPA 2.0, and with it XPENG’s range covered sedan, SUV and MPV across the Chinese price band from RMB 150,000 to 400,000.
The numbers in the release are about shape and space. Drag is 0.227, reached with 17 measures, the A-pillar leans 21 degrees and the rear screen 23. The centre aisle is 180 mm wide, the second row runs on 1,100 mm electric rails, the cabin is 1,315 mm tall, and the largest stated luggage capacity is 2,554 litres. The fridge adjusts from 0 to 50 degrees, and the entertainment screen measures 21.4″.
There is not one figure for range, battery size, charging power or acceleration anywhere in the release. Every number a European reader knows comes from the Norwegian releases a year later.
The sentence worth reading before you get in
XPENG writes that the zero-gravity reclining seats, with powered headrest and backrest, give better comfort tailored to typical Chinese body shapes. Those are the company’s own words about the seats, and they belong alongside the European X9 page.
Numbers that move between markets
The fridge is 0 to 50 degrees here. The Norwegian release of February 2025 says 1 to 50.
The turning figure is worse. Here 10.8 m is a diameter. The Norwegian release of December 2024 calls 5.4 m the turning measure, and February 2025 calls 10.8 m the turning radius. Radius and diameter are not the same thing, and this is the same car. A turning figure for an X9 has to be read together with what is being measured.
The 2,554 litres is “max storage capacity taking into account the luggage space for everyone on board”, which says very little. The Norwegian releases attach the same figure to four seats in use and add 755 litres with all seven. The number is the same; the condition is not.
He Xiaopeng called the X9 an expression of XPENG’s drive to make its technology and design appeal to increasingly individual needs. What the car actually became in Europe is in the story of the European premiere, and the XPENG X9 page has it as it is sold today.
