Platform: SEPA 3.0

The L03 sits on SEPA 3.0, the architecture generation XPENG introduced with the China-market GX in May 2026. XPENG’s own L03 model page does not name the platform; the clearest confirmation is Jacky Gu, ATC Chairman and E-powertrain Vice President at XPENG, who told Forbes: “The L03 design is based on our SEPA 3.0 architecture. This architecture is designed to meet the requirements of multiple areas, not only China. For L03 we did tuning and calibration for the European market.”

At Brand Day, Liu Xianming, head of XPENG’s General Intelligence Center, presented a SEPA roadmap covering 2023-2029 and placed the L03 as the first global model on the generation - the GX came first, but launched for China only. SEPA 3.0 is billed as “one car, dual energy”: battery-electric and range-extender on a single base.

The L03 does not use the top of that architecture. The 800 V, 5C and 3,000 TOPS figures are ceilings for the generation - the GX flagship is what sits up there. The L03 is a 400 V car:

On the L03SEPA 3.0 ceiling (not the L03)
Voltage 400 VUp to 800 V (GX)
DC charging 3C - 193-236 kW peak, 10-80% in ~20 minUp to 5C (GX)
Three Turing chips on Ultra = 2,250 TOPS total (two for ADAS = 1,500 TOPS); Bosch assistance on the other trimsUp to 3,000 TOPS (GX Robo, four chips)

The 3C figure comes from the car’s own numbers: 193 kW on 58.3 kWh and 236 kW on 71.2 kWh both work out at roughly 3.3C. Roadmap details as reported from Brand Day by ElectricVehicles.com.

Intelligent driving (NGP)

In China the L03 ships with NGP, VLA 2.0 and Turing AI chips. For Europe / Denmark the mapping is:

  • Bosch driver assistance - RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range, and AWD Performance (front camera module; same broad approach as G6 MY25 Standard Range)
  • XPENG Turing - AWD Performance Ultra only: three Turing chips = 2,250 TOPS total (two for ADAS = 1,500 TOPS, one for the smart cabin) plus MT8676 for infotainment
  • NGP / VLA 2.0 in Europe is planned for Ultra only, first version Q1 2027 (City + Highway NGP)
  • Ultra only (DK configurator): Automatic Lane Change (ALC) · intelligent 3D surround visualization (SR) · VLM · occupant monitoring (OMS) · flexible APA for unmarked bays · intelligent reverse assist

Active safety

XPENG lists 16 active safety functions for the L03 - per XPENG’s own footnote they are not standard on every trim. AEB works at up to 150 km/h, and tire-blowout stability control is standard across the range (tested up to 180 km/h). Euro NCAP: at Brand Day XPENG declared the car “5-Star Ready” - no published result yet.

Standard on all Danish trims (per the DK press release): adaptive cruise control · active lane assist · automatic emergency braking · blind-spot assist · rear cross-traffic warning · door-opening warning · automatic speed adaptation with sign recognition · 360° camera · parking assist · remote parking via the XPENG app · driver attention monitoring.

The 16 active safety functions:

  • Driver Incapacitation Assist - Performance Ultra only (part of VLA 2.0 NGP)
  • Full-Scenario Tire Blowout Stability Control
  • Autonomous Evasive Steering
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Driver Monitoring System
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Blind Spot Detection
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Door Open Warning
  • Emergency Lane Keeping
  • Intelligent High Beam
  • Speed Limit Assist
  • Rear Collision Warning
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (Real-Time Display)

Efficiency claims

  • XP-HP3.5 heat pump (all Nordic L03): up to 16% lower winter energy use and up to 31% lower summer energy use vs what XPENG calls the industry average; Brand Day / Munich also cites 6.7% range optimization at −7 °C and 6.3% at 35 °C. Includes AI climate control.
  • Aerodynamics: 22 optimisations across the car, worth up to 59.3 km of extra WLTP range.
  • Drive assembly: carbon-blended and integrated. XPENG claims class-leading efficiency and the lightest weight in the segment.
  • REEV noise: active noise cancellation (ENC) keeps the range extender below 1 dB in the cabin, and engagement is meant to be seamless.

These are XPENG’s own marketing claims, not independent measurements.

L03 Q&A

Community questions about the European L03 - updated after Brand Day and the Danish launch. Have another? Get in touch and we will add it.

  • 1.1 Q: Is it similar in size to the G6, and should it be seen as a successor?
A: A bit smaller than the G6. No indication that it is a successor to G6.
  • 1.2 Q: Are there plans for an M03 in Denmark?
    A: M03 ≠ L03. No new M03 Europe/DK announcement after Brand Day.
  • 1.3 Q: Roadmap: which XPENG models come after L03, and in what order?
    A: DK roadmap named so far for 2026: P7+, L03, L05, G9L (formerly G02).
  • 2.1 Q: Which chip/hardware does the European L03 get?
    A: Bosch on SR / LR / AWD Performance. Ultra only: 3× Turing (2 ADAS + 1 cabin) = 3×750 TOPS.
  • 2.2 Q: Can it be ordered with 2 or preferably 3 Turing chips for VLA?
A: Only Ultra has 3× Turing. Other DK trims use Bosch.
  • 2.3 Q: Does the EU version get the same compute (TOPS), or is hardware reduced due to European regulation?
A: Ultra matches the high-compute path (3×750 TOPS). SR / LR / AWD Performance use Bosch - not the Turing stack.
  • 3.1 Q: Will NGP be available in Denmark, and when?
A: NGP on Ultra only; first EU version Q1 2027. First version will be Level 2+.
  • 3.2 Q: Rough expected horizon for VLA 2.0 in Europe/Denmark?
A: NGP VLA 2.0 “goes global in 2027”. China distilled VLA for 750 TOPS Max (e.g. P7+) - not confirmed for EU non-Ultra L03.
  • 3.3 Q: Will it eventually be fully self-driving in Europe?
A: Still open - Fully self-driving in Europe is not announced; assisted driving requires driver attention and follows local traffic law. The plan is for Ultra to get L3 or L4 when EU regulations allow it.
  • 4.1 Q: What is the charging speed (DC)?
A: DC peak 193 kW (SR) / 236 kW (LR, AWD Perf, Ultra); ~20 min 10-80%. PowerX: 123 kW.

A: Three-phase 11 kW AC on all DK EV trims (PowerX lower - 6.6 kW in DE specs).
  • 4.3 Q: Does the EU version use 400V or 800V technology?
    A: It uses 400V 3C architecture.
  • 5.1 Q: Does it have V2L, and at what power (more than 3,000 W)?
A: V2L via separately sold adapter; Ultra: 6.6 kW.
  • 5.2 Q: How far is XPENG with V2G / V2H?
A: Still open - no information from Brand Day.
  • 5.3 Q: Is there a 230V outlet?
A: No 230V outlet in the car. There is a 12V outlet in the trunk.
  • 6.1 Q: Can you get a tow bar?
A: Manually detachable tow bar optional on all trims (7,900 DKK (~€1,100)).
  • 6.2 Q: What is the towing capacity?
    A: Up to 1,500 kg.
  • 6.3 Q: Is a powered / retractable tow bar available?
A: No. Only detachable manual towbar option.
  • 7.1 Q: Is it available with rear-wheel drive / all-wheel drive - or front-wheel drive only?
A: RWD Standard Range and Long Range, plus AWD Performance and AWD Performance Ultra. No FWD.
  • 8.1 Q: Does it have a driver display? (Unclear between Chinese and international videos.)
A: Driver Display standard in Europe. 26.8″ W-HUD standard on all DK trims (P7+ uses 29″).
  • 8.2 Q: Does the HUD show blind-spot video like on P7+?
A: Brand Day / Munich materials claim reverse and blind-spot camera view in the 26.8″ W-HUD. Separate EU software confirmation is still pending.
  • 9.1 Q: Is there massage in both front seats (not only the “queen seat”)?
A: Yes on Performance Ultra (DK configurator). SR/LR/Performance have 4-way lumbar + memory + driver lumbar relief, but not seat massage.
  • 9.2 Q: Seat length / thigh support for tall people - and XPENG’s view for European models?
A: Still open - nothing published yet.
  • 9.3 Q: Does it have camp mode? Room to lie down at 185 cm? Can you buy fitted mattresses?
A: Still open - nothing published yet.
  • 9.4 Q: Which interior colours are available?
A: Denmark: Dark Gray and Diamond Gray. Standard Range is Dark Gray only; Long Range, AWD Performance and Ultra offer both. See Compare specs.
  • 10.1 Q: More details on the headlights?
A: “Starship” headlights with automatic high beam; further details TBC.
