The footnote under every figure: for now, Chinese versions only

XPENG held Global Brand Night in Hong Kong on 15 April 2025 and presented the AI Tech Tree: in-house AI chips, language models in the cloud and in the car, and an architecture meant to carry AI across cars, flying vehicles and robots.

The Turing chip runs models of up to 30 billion parameters locally, has in XPENG’s words three times the compute of existing solutions, and was to enter the product range from the second quarter of 2025. The IRON robot runs the same chip and shares its vision system with the driver assistance. AEROHT’s Land Aircraft Carrier had more than 4,000 pre-orders, with production expected in 2026.

The release puts numbers on Norway

The release is written for Norwegian readers, and it carries market figures. XPENG had sold more than 4,600 cars in Norway in total and more than 800 in 2025 so far, with the G6 the best seller. The charging network stood at 2,110 of its own fast-charging stations worldwide and more than two million charging points through partners, and in Europe the infrastructure covered 27 countries. XPENG was in more than 30 countries and was, in 2024, the best-selling maker of electric cars above EUR 40,000 in Europe.

Auto Shanghai ten days later

On 25 April XPENG showed its World Foundation Model, said to have 35 times more parameters than traditional VLA models. What a traditional VLA model is, the text does not say, so the 35 times is a claim with no yardstick.

The P7+ became the first car with XPENG’s 5C battery, where 5C in XPENG’s own definition means charging or discharging at five times the battery’s nominal capacity. It quotes 420 km of range from ten minutes of charging and consumption of 12.7 kWh per 100 km. The updated X9 got 496 technical improvements and 6,000 orders in China in a week. IRON is given as 178 cm tall with 22 joints in its hands. First-quarter deliveries were 94,008 cars, with more than 700,000 delivered in total since the beginning.

The footnote

At the foot sits an asterisk: all figures and specifications apply for now to the Chinese versions only. That sentence governs the 420 km, the 12.7 kWh and the 496 improvements, and it is the most important thing in the whole release for a European reader.

He Xiaopeng said XPENG is redefining what a carmaker can be. Claes Persson, managing director of XPENG Norway, said they look forward to introducing the new products and technology in Norway when it is ready. That is a promise without a date.

Turing reached a car people can buy in August 2026, and the 4,600 Norwegian cars became 10,000 in May 2026; Denmark reached the same figure in August 2026.
