In April 2026 Auto Bild named XPENG the brand with the best image for electric drive on 74.72 percent of readers’ votes and the price-performance winner in the large SUV class on 58.09 percent, with the G9 at the head.
The survey is called Die besten Marken in allen Klassen, was run for the fifteenth time, and around 50,000 readers assessed 52 manufacturers in 14 classes and 19 image fields on quality, design and the relationship between price and performance. The results appeared in Auto Bild issue 16/2026 on 16 April.
New to the ranking
XPENG was not in the previous ranking, because the brand had only just come to Germany. The first time the company was counted in the survey, it went straight to first place in the two categories.
Markus Schrick, head of XPENG’s Central Europe sales region, said he is pleased to go from zero to first place in a prestigious image survey, where the company pushed both established manufacturers and promising newcomers down from the top.
Models, charging and equipment
The German range at the time was the G9, G6 and P7+, all on 800 volts with the 5C lithium iron phosphate battery, free of cobalt, manganese and nickel. Charging peaks are given as 525 kW for the G9, 451 kW for the G6 and 446 kW for the P7+, and the charging time from 20 to 80 percent is given as ten minutes for all three models.
Consumption is given as 18.4 to 20.1 kWh per 100 km for the G9, 17.3 to 18.4 for the G6 and 15.2 to 17.4 for the P7+.
XPENG highlights the standard equipment, among other things XPILOT, a powered tailgate, a heat pump and two-zone climate control with air purification. Depending on the model the options list is largely limited to metallic paint and an electrically deployable tow bar. The warranty is up to seven years or 160,000 km, and eight years on the high-voltage parts.
Which versions German buyers actually choose is the other half of the picture, and the XPENG G9 page has the car behind the class win.
