NAF and Motor ran the summer edition of El Prix in June 2024 with 26 electric cars. XPENG’s New G6 covered 530.7 km against a stated WLTP figure of 550 km. It fell short, where the G9 and P7 the year before had both beaten what type approval promised.

The battery was 87.5 kWh, and the car charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just under 20 minutes at 264 kW. Whether the 264 kW is a peak or an average is not stated, and without that the number cannot be set against anyone else’s.
XPENG’s own wording for the win is worth reading literally: the car is a clear winner when you consider the positive deviation from the stated range and the charging speed relative to its price. That is an argument about money, not a placing in the test, and the word positive sits awkwardly beside a car that came 19 km short.
Claes Persson, then managing director of XPENG Norway, said the brand has set new standards for range and charging speed since arriving in Norway, validated by the records the year before.
What the result is worth
530.7 km in Norwegian summer weather against 550 km on paper is a shortfall of under four per cent. That is a good result measured against reality, and it is also a worse result than XPENG had trained the market to expect. Both sit in the same release.
The XPENG G6 page has the car, and the European launch has the figures the 530.7 km should be measured against.
