On 10 July 2024 XPENG Nederland confirmed that customers who had ordered a car, and customers who ordered before November 2024, would not pay more if the EU introduced an import duty on cars built in China. They would get the car at the price agreed when they ordered, even if it was delivered after the duty came into force.
That is the whole release: one paragraph with no figures and no conditions beyond the date.
Only one newsroom carried it
XPENG has 14 newsrooms, and an import duty is mentioned in exactly one article across all of them: this one. There is no equivalent Danish, Norwegian, Swedish or German statement in the archive, and we cannot say whether other markets had the same arrangement without saying so out loud. They may have. XPENG simply did not write it down.
For anyone who bought an XPENG in that window, it matters. In the Netherlands, the price on a summer 2024 order was locked against something the buyer could not control, and it was in writing.
