The XPENG G9 Performance with all-wheel drive had the shortest charging time among 23 cars in NAF and Motor’s winter test El Prix 2024. The 93.1 kWh net battery was charged from 10 to 80 percent in 19 minutes, and the peak charging power was 291 kW.

Charging at Dal
Motor described the test conditions at Ionity’s station in Eidsvoll. The temperature was between 1 and 3 degrees, and the cars had driven continuously for at least two hours before charging.
XPENG highlighted the G9’s 800 V platform, heat pump and battery preconditioning as equipment that contributed to the car’s performance in the cold. The company tied that equipment to both charging and range.
Range in the winter test
The G9 came fifth measured on the deviation from its stated WLTP figure. It drove 13.1 percent shorter, while the field averaged 21.8 percent below WLTP. Eight of the 23 cars had a deviation of less than 20 percent.
In the summer edition the year before, the G9 had driven about 13 percent further than its WLTP figure. Both seasonal results apply to their own test conditions. The summer measurement is described in the story on the G9 and P7 at El Prix 2023.
Later tests include the X9 at El Prix 2026 and a newer G9 at WK Snelladen. The XPENG G9 page covers the model.
