El Prix, run by NAF and Motor twice a year, is regarded as the largest independent test of electric-car range and charging speed. The XPENG X9 took part in both 2026 rounds. In the winter edition it managed 361 km. In the summer edition it managed 646 km. Its certified WLTP range is 580 km.
The winter figure was measured at temperatures down to minus 30. That is 37.8 percent below WLTP, and XPENG notes that the deviation was average among the cars tested. The cold was no harder on the X9 than on the rest of the field. The test also ran with a battery that was not quite full, because the organiser had a technical fault. About 2.4 kWh were missing at the start, worth 8 to 9 km.
The summer figure went the other way. Those 646 km are 66 km more than the car is certified for, 11.4 percent above WLTP, and it ran for over 11 hours before it stopped. None of the 24 cars in the summer test came close.
The charger barely moved
What did not change is the interesting part. At minus 10, the X9 charged from 10 to 80 percent in 12 minutes in January. In June the same charge took 12 minutes and 55 seconds. Range swung 285 km between the two seasons. Charging time swung 55 seconds.
The gap to the rest of the field actually widened over the year. In January the second-fastest car took 16 minutes, only three cars came in under 20, and most sat between 30 and 45. In June the second-fastest took 22 minutes. The X9 can draw 542 kW, and it is plainly the charging curve rather than the size of the battery that settles the result.
The X9 is one of five models XPENG is putting on sale in Norway during 2026, with a target of more than 7,000 cars in the country in a year.
