XPENG launched the right-hand-drive G6 in Thailand, datelined Bangkok, on 21 August 2024. The price was THB 1,439,000 for the Standard Range, which the release calls 580 km, and THB 1,599,000 for the Long Range, which it calls 750 km. The car sold through 12 showrooms and service centres under X Mobility Thailand.
Six days later, on 27 August 2024, came Malaysia. There the versions were the 580 Pro at RM 165,000 and the 755 Pro at RM 185,000. Bermaz XPENG was the sole distributor and Prima Maju Auto the exclusive importer. The factory warranty was five years on the car and eight years on the high-voltage battery. The Malaysian release gives neither a range on a stated test cycle nor a battery capacity beyond the figures in the model names.
Different figures in two markets
The two launches took place six days apart. In Thailand XPENG stated 580 km and 750 km without naming a test cycle, while the Malaysian versions carried the names 580 Pro and 755 Pro.
For comparison, in Europe XPENG states 435 km WLTP for the Standard Range (66 kWh LFP) and 550 to 570 km WLTP for the versions with the large 87.5 kWh battery. Neither the Thai nor the Malaysian release says which test cycle the local figures rest on. In China the G6 was launched with a range of up to 755 km on the Chinese CLTC standard.
Warranty in Malaysia and Europe
The Malaysian warranty of five years on the car and eight years on the battery differs from the European terms. At the European introduction of the G6 in April 2024 XPENG stated a factory warranty of seven years or 160,000 km.
James Wu, vice president of accounting and finance, said in Bangkok that XPENG was seeing growing interest, especially in European countries and the Middle East. According to the company’s release the launches in Thailand and Malaysia were part of a wider rollout of right-hand-drive models in Asia and the Pacific, where the G6 was later planned for markets such as Singapore, Australia and Nepal.
