XPENG pushed XOS 5.2 globally on 30 July 2024 with 484 changes across driver assistance, connectivity and the cabin. The cabin gained interoperability with the Apple ecosystem, remote voice control, gesture control, NFC, 80 new dashboard themes, 1,620 new driving modes and universal screen mirroring. In the 70 days since 20 May, XPENG had shipped five full updates and at least 35 versions.

Chinese customers got 5.2.0 the same day. Users outside China got the full rollout on 15 August. Both dates are on the stage slide from the event, not in the body text.
The sentence about Germany
The most important line in the whole sequence sits mid-release from the Beijing motor show on 25 April 2024. XPENG has worked to make its smart driving available worldwide, it says, with the completion of Highway NGP testing in Germany. One sentence. No date, no city, no fleet size. It was never expanded on.
In October 2024 the word was that global XNGP development would follow in 2025. In July 2026 it was 2027. German testing finished in April 2024, and the date for the European rollout has moved twice since.
The numbers from AI Day
XPENG held AI Day on 20 May 2024. It produced the only quantified claims about the driving experience itself in the whole period: XPlanner is said to cut jerks in the drive by 50 per cent, improper stops by 40 per cent and passive takeovers by 60 per cent. No baseline, no test protocol and no market is attached to any of the three.
The training base is given as more than a billion kilometres of video, 6.46 million kilometres of real-world testing and 216 million kilometres of simulation, with a model that iterates every two days. XPENG committed RMB 3.5 billion to R&D in 2024, 4,000 new hires and RMB 720 million a year on training compute.
He Xiaopeng said the same day that by 2025 XPENG would reach an L4-level autonomous driving experience in China. The promise was never withdrawn. It simply stopped appearing.
The charging network and the rest
The liquid-cooled S5 station arrived in the third quarter of 2024 with up to 800 kW, under 13 seconds from plug to start, 800 A and 1,000 V. At the end of July 2024 XPENG put its own Chinese network at more than 1,600 stations. The 1,600 is the figure to use.
XPENG was in 30 countries and regions at the time under the name Go Global 2.0, and called itself first in export volume among Chinese pure-electric brands for mid-to-high-end models in the first half of 2024. Which markets that claim rests on is not stated.
The XPENG company page has the background, and the G9 winning WK Snelladen in 2026 shows what the charging work became on a European car.
