In December 2023 Green NCAP gave the international G9 five stars in its 2023 sustainability rating, with an average of 95 per cent. The sub-scores are 10 for clean air, 9.2 for energy efficiency and 9.4 for greenhouse gases. Green NCAP is an independent pan-European initiative and tests under real-world conditions.
It is a result worth repeating precisely because it comes from outside. The sub-scores are also the one set of numbers all six language versions of the release agree on.
The charging claim
Four language versions say the 800-volt platform delivers 200 km of range from five minutes of charging. The Dutch version says 100 km. Same day, same release.
The 200 km traces back to the Chinese G9 launch in 2022, where the yardstick was printed with it: up to 200 km of CLTC range in five minutes. In December 2023 the figure is applied to the international G9 and CLTC has dropped out. CLTC returns systematically higher numbers than WLTP, so a European reader is handed a Chinese-cycle figure without being told. The 100 km, meanwhile, is the number XPENG has kept using in Europe; the German release of August 2025 says five minutes for 100 extra kilometres.
No version gives the charging power, the state of charge or the temperature. A charging figure with no yardstick cannot be used to plan a journey, and the rule is simple enough: find the cycle, the charger and the temperature before you count on a minutes figure.
The rest of the release
XPENG also cites NAF’s El-Prix in June 2023 with a 319 kW peak and first place in the range test at 13 per cent above WLTP, and notes that MSCI raised its ESG rating from AA to AAA in October 2023. European sales were running at the time in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands with the P7 and G9.
Brian Gu said the result showed XPENG’s commitment to sustainability, especially as Green NCAP’s tests go beyond the minimum requirements.
