Asia’s gymkhana championship ran in Hong Kong in identical XPENG New P7s

The Asia Auto Gymkhana Championship (AAGC) held its first Hong Kong stage on 17 and 18 October 2026 at the Wan Chai Harbourfront Event Space beside Victoria Harbour. The organiser was the Hong Kong, China Automobile Association, and the competition car was the XPENG New P7.

Gymkhana is a timed run on a short, narrow course laid out with cones. According to XPENG’s infographic, the route is only published just before the start and practice time is short, so drivers have to memorise the course and get to know the car quickly. Every cone a driver hits adds time. There are individual and team events.

The same car for everyone

The series requires identical cars. XPENG writes that all the cars kept their factory condition and were exactly alike, and the FIA calls the format “arrive & drive”. The results therefore rank the drivers against each other and say nothing about the New P7 against other cars.

XPENG calls the New P7 the series’ first pure electric production car and the official car of the Hong Kong stage. According to the company, the AAGC is supported by the FIA and is Asia’s highest gymkhana class.

The series grew out of Chinese Taipei Motor Sports’ gymkhana in Taiwan. According to an FIA article from November 2025, the championship then brought together 14 national motorsport federations and over 200 drivers in five countries.

The event

According to XPENG’s programme, Saturday had the knockout rounds of the men’s and women’s singles. Sunday brought qualifying in the men’s, women’s and mixed doubles, then finals in all five classes and finally the prize presentation. Both days ended with a New P7 driving experience.

At 20:23 Beijing time on 18 October, XPENG declared the stage concluded and congratulated the prizewinning drivers. The posts do not give winners or times.

XPENG in Hong Kong

In August the X9 led the city’s luxury electric MPVs, and XPENG’s first megawatt charger stands there too.

Date, venue and organiser are listed by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the series background by the FIA. That the New P7 is the series’ first pure electric car, and that the cars were in factory condition, is XPENG’s own information.
