XOS Tianji, the X9 and AI Valet Driver were shown at Tech Day 2023

XPENG held its fifth Tech Day in Guangzhou on 24 October 2023. The evening brought together XNGP, a new function for fixed routes, the architecture behind the driver assistance, the cabin operating system, the X9, the flying cars and a robot.

XNGP was available in five Chinese cities at the time. XPENG announced a plan for a further 20 cities without high-definition maps by the end of November 2023 and coverage in 50 cities by the end of the year.

XPENG showed AI Valet Driver the same evening. The driver sets a start and an end in the city, drives the route manually once, and the car stores it. The driver can later start the function on that stored route, and the car then drives with advanced driver assistance on it alone.

XPENG presented XBrain as the architecture behind the driver assistance, supported by XNet 2.0 for perception and XPlanner for planning and control. XPENG describes XPlanner as built on neural networks.

XOS Tianji was the fifth generation of the cabin operating system, and XPENG planned to integrate the language model XGPT into it. XPENG also said that large models are used in vehicle design and code development.

XPENG showed the X9’s exterior: a flagship built on SEPA 2.0 with the 800 V SiC platform, integrated aluminium castings front and rear, and XNGP. It was to be the first XPENG with XOS Tianji from the factory, and Auto Guangzhou in November 2023 was the planned showcase. XPENG calls it the world’s only MPV with rear-wheel steering as standard.

AEROHT set out two development tracks, eVTOL and modular flying cars. XPENG Robotics showed a new bipedal robot, developed in-house, and said the company would transfer technologies from the cars to the robots going forward, among them the neural network XNet, the XEEA architecture and XGPT. The robot programme continued with IRON.

The XPENG X9 page has the MPV, and the XPENG company page has the rest of the business.
