Five releases in two days opened for orders, and they do not agree

XPENG opened European orders for the New G6 and New G9 on 11 July 2025, the day after the G6 had run in public for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Five releases came out over two days in three languages, and together they give the fullest picture of the two cars the archive holds.

The battery and the charging

Both cars carry XPENG’s 5C battery in LFP with full 800 volts across every trim. The New G6 peaks at 451 kW, the New G9 at 525 kW, and both go from 10 to 80 per cent in 12 minutes. None of the five releases says which charger or at what temperature.

The battery sizes are scattered. Only the Goodwood release gives the G6’s: 68.5 kWh Standard Range and 80.8 kWh Long Range and Performance, replacing the earlier 66 and 87.5 kWh. Only the Norwegian G9 release gives the G9’s: 79 kWh Standard Range and 93.1 kWh Performance, and only there does it say the G9 Standard Range peaks at 445 kW against the 525 for the Performance.

The heat pump is standard on every trim and, in XPENG’s words, warms both cabin and battery from minus 20 to plus 40 degrees in just over four minutes.

The prices, as printed in Germany

Recommended prices including German VAT: the New G6 from EUR 47,600 as the Long Range and EUR 51,600 as the AWD Performance; the New G9 from EUR 59,600 as the Standard Range, 63,600 as the Long Range and 72,600 as the AWD Performance. The G6 Standard Range price was not published. XPENG says prices are largely unchanged.

The range depends on which release you read

535 km for the G6 in the English orders release, given as WLTP for the rear-wheel-drive Long Range. The same 535 km in the Goodwood release, there with 18-inch wheels and no test cycle. 510 km in the Norwegian one, with 20-inch wheels, and that release’s own footnote says all the information applies to the G6 Performance AWD. Only the orders release says WLTP.

For the G9 the figure is up to 585 km WLTP for the rear-wheel-drive Long Range.

And three delivery dates

The English release says deliveries begin at the end of the summer of 2025. The German says the fourth quarter of 2025. The Norwegian says the third quarter. All three are dated 11 July 2025.

There is more of that: the massage seats are standard in one text, limited to Long Range and Performance in another, and an option in the German one.

The rest of the cars

The New G6 measures 4,758 × 1,920 × 1,650 mm with a 1,942 mm light bar across the nose, and the new ducktail adds five millimetres to the length. The boot is 571 litres, or 1,374 with the seats folded. The screens have grown to 15.6 inches in the centre and 10.25 in front of the driver.

The New G9 measures 4,891 × 1,937 × 1,680 mm on a 2,998 mm wheelbase, stops from 100 km/h in 33.9 metres, is quoted at as little as 35 dB in the cabin at rest and 53.9 dB on the move, and has 660 litres of boot space, 1,576 with the seats folded, plus a 71-litre frunk. Both cars run a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 and an Nvidia Orin-X.

The Norwegian release says the New G6 was developed with the aim of five Euro NCAP stars. That is a target, not a result.

Orders opened in France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. A right-hand-drive G6 was trailed for the UK in early 2026. In Norway the New G6 had passed 1,000 customers in the first half of the year and taken fourth place in the Car of the Year vote, and there were more than 2,300 G9s on Norwegian roads.

The story of the 5C battery in both cars has the background, and the G9 winning WK Snelladen in 2026 is the 525 kW measured by somebody else.
