The New G6 and G9 got a 5C battery on every trim and 12 minutes from 10 to 80

On 12 June 2025 XPENG announced new versions of the G6 and G9 for Europe. The important part is the battery. Every trim of both cars moves from 3C to 5C lithium iron phosphate, on an 800 V platform that now covers the whole car. XPENG gives 10 to 80 percent in 12 minutes, with up to 525 kW on the G9 and 451 kW on the G6.

The Norwegian version of the release is the only one that explains what 5C means: a battery that tolerates a current five times its own capacity. The chemistry is LFP, and so free of cobalt and nickel.

A year later somebody else measured it

In July 2026 a G9 won a Dutch charging test with 11 minutes from 10 to 80. That is faster than the 12 XPENG promised. The peak, on the other hand, was 452 kW against the 525 in the release, with an average of 381 kW on a 600 kW charger. That story has all the measured figures.

Beyond the battery, the cars gained a microfibre capacitive steering wheel, a new driver-assistance chip and a new cockpit chip, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. The G6 got a 1,942 mm full-width light bar and a cabin 60 percent of which is new. The G9 got a three-layer heat-insulating panoramic roof and ten-point massage seats, and a Black Edition arrived with black paint, blacked wheels and orange brake calipers.

No prices came with it. Interest registration opened in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and France, with ordering due to open in mid-July. The Norwegian version also makes every specification subject to final type approval, a caveat absent from the other language versions.

The XPENG G6 page and the XPENG G9 page have the versions sold today, and the G9 model-year differences page separates the years.
