In April 2025 XPENG had the research agency Opinion ask 211 Norwegian car owners. 77 percent said range matters most, 7 percent said charging speed, and 16 percent had no preference. The year before, XPENG’s own corresponding survey gave 67 percent for range, without stating the sample or the date, so the movement was away from charging speed.
In the same survey 46 percent said they were worried about running out of battery on long trips, 18 percent were neither worried nor unworried, and 22 percent were unworried.
XPENG bet on shorter charging stops
Claes Persson, head of XPENG Norway, said Norwegian car buyers put too much weight on range and should be more concerned with charging speed. In his assessment the coverage of fast chargers is good enough almost everywhere, and what matters is the time lost at a charging stop. He put the company’s line shortly: the strategy is to be best on charging speed.
The new versions of the G6 and G9 were to reach Norway during the autumn of 2025, at up to 451 kW and 525 kW respectively. XPENG gave the charging time for both as 12 minutes from 10 to 80 percent.
