On 14 January 2025 XPENG Charging and bp pulse signed a memorandum of understanding to open each other’s charging networks in China. The deal gives customers access to more than 30,000 charging points across 420 Chinese cities. XPENG brings more than 2,000 stations and 10,000 chargers, bp pulse more than 1,000 stations and 23,000 chargers.
The wording is a memorandum, not a contract, and everything that sounds like the future, meaning solar charging, storage, energy management and joint marketing, arrives with the word explore in front of it.
At the end of the same release sits a single sentence about Europe: in 2025 XPENG Charging will extend its network globally, starting with an international charging service platform for finding a charger, navigating to it and paying at it, and the expansion spans Asia, Europe and Australia.
The order of march
The release of 24 February 2025 sets the order. Southeast Asia first in 2025, with stations in Hong Kong and Thailand in the first half of the year, then Asia, Europe and Australia. XPENG says it will work with local charging operators rather than build everything itself.
Not one European city, country or date appears in either release, and the archive has had none since. What Europe got instead is the Plugsurfing deal of May 2025, which is access to other people’s chargers rather than XPENG’s own stations.
The rest of the roadmap
The February release is otherwise about 300 right-hand-drive X9 MPVs shipped to Thailand as the first batch. The X9 is XPENG’s second model built for both left- and right-hand drive.
And there is a date: the Turing driving system was to enter a global adaptation phase in 2026. The word in July 2026 was 2027.
XPENG was in more than 30 markets at the time and had delivered more than 620,000 cars since 2014, with a target of 60 countries and over 300 service outlets by the end of 2025. The 100,000th car outside China came in August 2026.
He Xiaopeng said the company is accelerating its global expansion to solidify its position in the international EV market. The markets page shows how far that has got.
