XPENG owners are to be able to download apps from Google Play straight to the car’s screen. XPENG announced it on its global Facebook page on 15 October 2026 with the poster “XPENG Welcomes Google Play”: a new app experience follows in early 2027.

The same day, Xianming Liu, head of XPENG’s General Intelligence Center, wrote on X that the integration is scheduled to go live in early 2027.
Three days earlier, XPENG’s Weibo post on the G9L’s Paris launch said that the Google partnership now covers Google Play as well as Google Maps. According to the post, the cars already have more than 500 apps that run directly in the car, and the selection can grow without a software update to the car. The stated aim is to let European drivers bring the digital life they know into the car.
The apps live in the car
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto put apps from a connected phone on the car’s screen. With Google Play, the apps are installed in the car and run there.
The cars already have an app store of their own. As of 15 October, XPENG’s Danish L03 configurator lists “XPENG App Store” under infotainment on all four trims, next to the XPENG mobile app, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. XPENG has not said whether Google Play replaces its own store or sits beside it.
XPENG’s poster shows the store on the centre screen. The top row suggests Spotify, Waze, Google Chrome, SoundCloud, Prime Video, A Better Routeplanner and TIDAL. Under the heading “Pass time while parked” sit YouTube, HBO Max, CANAL+, TuneIn Radio, NBA and the Vivaldi browser, and the side menu has an entry for games. It is a demonstration: the poster says the delivered car may differ from the images, and that features can vary between markets because of the car’s hardware and software and local regulations.
What XPENG has not said yet
The Weibo post was part of the G9L launch and spoke to European drivers, but neither post says which models get Google Play, or when. Google Maps navigation covers the L03, the G9L and later models, while it is still open for the models on sale before the L03. Whether Google Play takes the same route is not known.
Nor does XPENG say whether cars already on the road get Google Play through an over-the-air update. Google’s search data did reach existing cars that way with XOS 5.9.5 in June 2026, but that tells us nothing about the app store.
Denmark is not mentioned. On 15 October the Danish configurators list different things: the G9L has Google Maps, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto but no app store, while the L03 has the XPENG App Store but names neither Google Maps nor Google Play. XPENG itself has confirmed Google Maps for the L03 since July.
When the L03 launched in Australia in September, the Australian car sites The Beep and Zecar listed built-in Google Maps and Google Play on its 15.6″ screen. They give no source, and XPENG Australia’s own L03 page does not mention Google Play in the car, so the report is unconfirmed.
My take
I expect the L03 and the G9L at least to get the new Google Play store. Both run XOS 6 with Google Maps, and XPENG mentioned Google Play in its Weibo post on the G9L’s launch. When the store reaches cars in Denmark is still open.
The partnership began with navigation on Google Maps in July. The guide to XPENG and Google Maps has the models and markets XPENG has confirmed so far, and the G9L page covers the car’s infotainment in Denmark.
