In issue 22/2024, published on 10 October, auto motor und sport put the XPENG G9 against the Nio EL6. The G9 won the comparison test, which XPENG subsequently reported in its German release.
The tested car was the G9 Long Range with rear-wheel drive, a 230 kW motor and a 98 kWh battery. The stated range was up to 570 km WLTP and consumption 19.4 kWh per 100 km.
The magazine measured an average charging power of 213 kW from 10 to 80 percent. In its assessment the G9 briefly went above 300 kW. XPENG also relayed the magazine’s praise for space, quality and equipment.
Equipment and cabin
The magazine highlighted the contoured seats, the build quality and the leather, and the 660-litre boot. The passenger could use Netflix and YouTube on their own screen, while a privacy filter, according to the test, shielded the picture from the driver.
On the German car special paint and an electrically deployable tow bar were options. The warranty was seven years or 160,000 km, as on the other XPENG models in Germany.
The G9 was 4.89 metres long. The German range covered two battery sizes, 78.2 and 98 kWh, and rear- and all-wheel drive. At that point XPENG had been selling cars in Germany for a few months.
Markus Schrick, head of XPENG in Germany, said the comparison test underlined the quality of the brand’s models.
The G9’s charging also featured in NAF’s El Prix in 2023. A later version won WK Snelladen in 2026, and the XPENG G9 page describes the model today.
