Auto Bild put the G6 second overall and first on value

In issue 48/2024, published on 28 November, Auto Bild put the XPENG G6 against the Cupra Tavascan and the Kia EV6. The G6 took the value win and second place overall, five points off the outright result.

The magazine highlighted a range of 570 km WLTP, 285 hp and a starting price under EUR 50,000, as XPENG relays the printed test in its own summary. The test also praised the car’s unfussy design and its space and equipment. The 285 hp corresponds to XPENG’s own 210 kW.

On space, Auto Bild writes that with up to 1,374 litres the G6 takes more luggage than either the Kia or the Cupra, measured with the rear seats folded. With the seats up the boot holds 571 litres, as stated at the European launch in April 2024.

On charging and efficiency the magazine says the car fills quickly thanks to 280 kW, and uses less energy than its rivals thanks to its lower weight. The seven-year, 160,000 km warranty is named as a difference that counts. The G6 beats both rivals on body, drivetrain and costs, and the magazine also praises payload and towing capacity.

The comparison with the G9

XPENG notes in the same release that the G9 won the brand’s first comparison test in October at “a well-known German motoring magazine”. It was auto motor und sport, which the company named in its German release from October.

Markus Schrick, head of XPENG Germany, said that after the flagship G9’s October win, the G6 SUV coupé is now following suit.

Consumption on the German G6 is given as 17.5 to 17.9 kWh per 100 km WLTP, while the Chinese release of 2023 gave 13.2 kWh per 100 km on the CLTC standard. The XPENG G6 page has the car today.
