XPENG announced a German market launch for 2024 at IAA in Munich

On 4 September 2023, at the IAA Mobility motor show in Munich, XPENG announced that the brand would officially enter Germany in 2024 with the P7 and G9. The German website went live the same day. The release set 2024 as the target for the launch, with details on prices and the distribution model to follow later. At the same time the company said the first international versions of the G9 were on their way to Europe by ship.

In the release XPENG highlighted its long-term strategic partnership with the Volkswagen Group, signed in July. The company also pointed to the results from the Norwegian summer edition of NAF’s El-Prix in June, where the G9 reached a charging power of 319 kW and the G9 and P7 exceeded their WLTP range by 13 and 10 percent respectively, as described in the story on the NAF test.

Brian Gu, vice chairman and co-president of XPENG, described Germany at the announcement as one of the world’s most competitive car markets, with demanding customers.

The German launch

XPENG entered the German market in 2024 through a dealer network.

The XPENG G9 page and the XPENG P7 page describe the two models. The markets page gives the overview of the European markets, and the story on German buyers’ choice of versions describes the split between the variants.
