The X9 went on sale in China on 1 January 2024 from RMB 359,800 to 419,800 with immediate deliveries. XPENG’s own bullet carries the restriction: China only.
The numbers are 702 km CLTC at best and consumption down to 16.2 kWh per 100 km. The platform is 800 volts with silicon carbide and 3C cells, power 370 kW, torque 640 Nm, zero to a hundred in 5.7 seconds and 200 km/h flat out. Ten minutes of charging is said to add up to 300 km, but with no cycle and no charger power stated, that figure cannot be used to plan anything.
The cabin is given as 7.7 square metres of floor, the boot as 2,554 litres with the third row electrically folded. Turning radius 5.4 m with rear-wheel steering, and dual-chamber air suspension is standard. The body is cast on a 12,000-tonne clamping-force machine, torsional rigidity is 46,000 Nm per degree, and the safety cage is 2,000 MPa steel.
The 702 km
CLTC is the Chinese test cycle, and XPENG says so here. That makes the release honest. The trouble starts when the number travels without its bracket.
Every European X9 figure XPENG has published since is WLTP and lower: 525 km for the front-wheel-drive car with 94.8 kWh, 600 km for the Long Range with 105 kWh and 560 km for the all-wheel-drive Performance, all three in the Norwegian price list of June 2025. In 2026 XPENG gives 580 km WLTP in Norway and up to 615 km for the German Long Range.
Batteries and model years differ, so these are two different cars, and the European numbers correct nothing about the 702. They show what the yardstick does to a figure. Consumption follows the same pattern: 16.2 kWh per 100 km in China against 20.0 to 20.8 kWh WLTP for the European X9 in the German release of June 2026.
The rest of New Year’s Day
XPENG sold 141,601 cars in 2023 after eleven consecutive months of rising deliveries, and from 2 January 2024 XNGP covered 243 Chinese cities. He Xiaopeng said the X9 broadens the range and promotes the adoption of autonomous driving.
